Embroidered T-Shirts

I ordered three packs of embroidery transfers from Sublime Stitching, and that means I've been busy:

The maneki neko shirt is Isabella's, and the sushi shirt is Ariana's. They chose the designs. I can't emphasize enough how easy this kind of embroidery is, especially with the Sublime Stitching iron-on transfers. Seriously, why haven't you tried this yet? Shoo! Go on! I'll wait here for you.

Embroidered T-Shirt

We're going to see my husband's band play tomorrow night, so my daughters need something to wear. Hence, the embroidered t-shirt:

The guitar design is from a transfer from Sublime Stitching. The stitching looks a lot more wonky in the picture than it does in real life. I used some fusible interfacing behind the design to keep it from puckering, so it will have to be worn with an undershirt to keep it from being all scratchy. The shirt is a success with my daughter, who can't wait to "wear it to band practice!"

Quilt Squares

Posted by Som Fri, 16 Sep 2005 13:35:00 GMT

Last night, I finally finished cutting the fabric for my daughters' quilt into squares. And it's only been a year since I bought the fabric!

The girls are going to my parents' house this weekend, so I'll have plenty of time to get reaquainted with the demon who lives in my sewing machine.

Seriously. That thing hates me.

After much mathematical wrangling, I've decided I'm going to use 3/8" seams and make the quilt 30 x 32 squares; it should be plenty big for a full-size bed. Of course, even after I'm finished, I'll inevitably have to make another one. It's my lot in life for having two daughters.

At any rate, this will be my first adventure in quilting, and really my first adventure in machine stitching. Wish me luck. I'm sure I'll need it.

In other news, I finished four more puppets a couple of weeks ago. I'm taking a hiatus from puppet-making for the rest of the year.
