Two off the needles...

...and another in the works.
I finished two more of the "Airy Scarf" pattern from Last Minute Knitted Gifts - this time for myself - and I never want to see that pattern ever again. Seriously, after five of them, I'm done with it. Finished.
And here they are:

(Special thanks to my lovely model, one of my most favorite thrift store finds.)
My next project is the Lacy Serpentine Scarf from Heartstrings. I pondered for a week and a half how to handle those three hanks of silk/wool laceweight, and finally decided to wind it around one of my antique industrial spools:

Now, I love silk. I love the drape, the sheen, but there is nothing I hate more than unwinding a skein of it. UGH. Silk has this narcissistic thing going on where it STICKS to itself and tangles up like whoa, so winding it into a ball...not such a great idea. Hence the spool. I like the way it looks, and I'm hoping it'll work out well for me, too. Expect pictures of my first rows on the needles in the next couple of days.
Special thanks to my husband, who figured out that a surgeon's knot is the only way to join two lengths of such a slippery yarn without leaving a big, noticeable knot in the middle of it. Thanks, hon!
