Openwork Silk Scarf

For Christmas last year, my dear husband's family gave me a gift certificate to a Carol's Knitting Studio, a relatively new LYS that I'd never been to before. And from the moment I walked in and saw the Mango Moon Recycled Silk Yarn, it was love at first sight.
After struggling for two days to get that hank wound into a ball, though, the honeymoon was over. For a beginning knitter, that stuff was a nightmare. But I stuck with it, because at $21 a hank, I couldn't afford not to. And I'm glad I did.

The scarf drapes beautifully, and it's wide enough to function as either a scarf or a shawl. Since then, I've made another for my mother's birthday, and one for my sister's birthday. My youngest sister's birthday is coming up in October, and she'll be getting one as well.
The yarn was very difficult to work with at first; it tangles and twists easily, and I'd occasionally find a bit of twig or grass spun into the yarn here and there. But with practice, it's become a real pleasure to knit. I'm toying with the idea of making a long fringed cardigan with it.
